Webkinz is a virtual world targeted at owners of Webkinz plush toys.

The world is aimed at a younger demographic with the primary tie-in being stuffed animals purchased offline that serve as your avatar in-world. Above all, this is a gaming platform, with a plethora of single and multiplayer online games. Games earn you currency to buy various knicknacks to outfit your avatars and put in a virtual space. Chatting is limited to certain phrases, except in certain chatrooms that require parental consent and use a chat filter. You can keep up with your friends, but only to send messages, gifts or play games with them. There are several "zones" which essentially serve as multiple copies of the same virtual world. The world uses many incentives to get people to return frequently, such as scheduled arrival of new items, only being able to do certain things at certain times, and getting rewards for logging in everyday for 7 days, etc.
