Vizwoz is a British virtual world website created by Daniel Laurence and started on March 21st 2008. It is aimed for children from 11 to 14.

The goal of VizWoz is to create a teen virtual community. Teen users can create and customise their own character avatars, all of whom move on futuristic hoverboards. Its aim is to mix chat, single and multiplayer games, interactivity and user generated content.[1]

Children can visit different landscape, like Tropical Island, Future City, Land of the Pharohs, Medival City and Fame World looking for friends to chat with and games to play. Vizcops deal with bullying and other offenses, while the VKrew organizes multiplayer activities. A music/video player with a searchable library lets visitors create their own soundtrack

Publisher's Description

VizWoz is a stimulating, interesting and safe space for kids and teenagers to explore and ‘hover and hang out in’ whilst stretching their imagination and creativity. It is set to become the future of chat and gaming.

With the combination of unprecedented flash animation and innovative technology, created by our strong team, the service aims to produce a catalyst for interaction and virtual entertainment in its most realistic form. [2]

Critics

Even if the Vizcop are efficient, and the chat does not allow any wrong language, some music contains sexual references and insults. Some games are also spotted to involve animal cruelty : bashing penguins with a club, rats squealing when they are killed by trap, sheeps drowning in a moat. However, VizWoz have now removed the Penguin game, and have tightened swear filters on Media Players.[3]
