Second Earth is a 3d mashup of Google Earth and Second Life. It was built by National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in 2008 and is part of the Scilands continent.
Second Earth is a fantastic example of how virtual worlds can be used to display information which is very hard to represent in the real world or in 2d environments.
