The Learning Centre provides both a space for the kiosks, and an informal space for meetings, displays and events and was one of the first structures on Ohio University's main campus island in Second Life.

The original kiosk was developed in 2008 as part of a blend of learning resources for students in John Stinson's "Managing in the Innovation Age" course, but are also open to non-students who are interested in the subject matter. Since then several other kiosks have been developed including Ohio University Libraries Orientation and 'Ask the Techies' which provides useful IT tips and information.
