IP Rights
From FAS Virtual Worlds Almanac
Users have IP rights if they can have legal ownership of objects and/or land within the game. This is different than simply owning the content in the game. Legal ownership means that the content belongs to that user and it cannot be taken away by the administrators of the game.
Worlds without IP rights are like playing a game of Monopoly at a friend's house. You can earn fake money and buy things in the game. You may even give another player real money in exchange for some fake money or a piece of property. However, at the end of the day, the game money and property belongs to whoever owns the board game. It might be breaking the game rules for the owner of the board game to take everyone else's money and property, but that person legally has the right to do so.
Worlds with IP rights are different. If you buy or create something in one of these worlds, you can sell it, trade it, or keep it.
