Beanie Babies 2.0 is a commercial virtual world that is based on a series of stuffed dolls of the same name. Dolls, which can be purchased online or at various retail outlets, have a unique identifier that is entered into the world's user interface. Once a user has entered the ID of a doll, it appears in the virtual world and the user is able to play with it in many ways, including with other humans. It is similar to and intended to compete with Webkinz.

Communication

Two modes of chat, basic and freestyle. In basic chat, a user can only select from pre-selected phrases. In freestyle, users can create their own messages, which are filtered for content. Numbers, place names, and inappropriate phrases are removed from user messages automatically. Parental permission is required for freestyle chat.
